Musée Fleury

Musée Fleury is housed in a 17th-century building in Lodève with 4,100 square meters of exhibition space dedicated to Earth Sciences and Archaeology. The collections display specimens and artifacts that span hundreds of millions of years of geological and human history.

The museum was established in 1987 and received the official 'musée de France' designation in 2003. This period marked when regional geological and archaeological collections were brought together in a single location.

The monumental staircase was created by sculptor Paul Dardé and remains one of the building's most striking features. This sculptural element shows how art and science were brought together in this space.

The museum is spread across a large building on multiple floors, so visitors should plan for a full visit to see the collections. Comfortable shoes are recommended since you will walk through many exhibition spaces.

The building underwent substantial renovation work that reorganized the exhibitions to present specimens and artifacts in chronological order. This transformation gave the space a new logical flow that helps visitors understand the progression of natural and human history.
