Chapelle de l'Immaculée-Conception de Menton, Religious chapel in Capitol district, Menton, France

The Chapel of the Immaculate Conception is a late 17th-century building with a two-story baroque facade, niches holding saint statues, and a distinctive bell tower. Its interior features a single nave decorated with religious paintings and dominated by a marble altar.

Construction of the building took place between 1680 and 1687 on land given by Prince Louis I Grimaldi and the Monléon family, situated beyond Menton's medieval walls. It was built during a period when the city was expanding beyond its original fortified center.

This chapel served as a spiritual hub for Menton's residents over the centuries and remains a place where visitors connect with local religious traditions. The interior paintings reflect how the community expressed its faith through art.

The building sits on Place de la Conception in central Menton and is easily accessible on foot. Visitors should check ahead as the site may be closed for maintenance or restoration work.

The small dome perched atop the bell tower is an easy detail to miss when looking at the building from below. This refined touch shows how much care went into the tower's design, even in its upper reaches.
