Château Saint-Hilaire de Louviers

Château Saint-Hilaire de Louviers is a castle with three levels and an attic, featuring brick exteriors and Norman architectural details. The structure includes a terrace with crenellations and timber-framed sections in parts of its design.

The estate began as L'Epervier in the 15th century, functioning as a rural residence in the area. The structure was substantially rebuilt between 1907 and 1909 by architect Henri Jacquelin, transforming its appearance.

The building reflects local Norman design traditions through its use of reclaimed wooden pieces from regional houses. These salvaged materials show how the structure connects to the area's architectural heritage.

The castle is privately owned in Louviers, so access is limited to special heritage days and designated events. It helps to check ahead about when the grounds may be accessible to the public.

The former chapel was transformed into a large salon-library-studio space. Architectural pieces from a demolished abbey in Dieppe were incorporated into this conversion, giving the room a distinctive past.
