Puig de Querroig rises to 672 meters, featuring crystalline schist, slate, and phyllite formations between Portbou in Spain and Banyuls-sur-Mer in France.
The mountain served as a strategic observation point during multiple conflicts, with its paths later becoming escape routes for refugees during World War II.
The surrounding region preserves medieval ruins and commemorates philosopher Walter Benjamin through a dedicated hiking path named Ruta Walter Benjamin.
Multiple access points from Portbou, Banyuls-sur-Mer, and Cerbère provide varied hiking options, with trails requiring approximately five hours to complete.
The mountain forms part of the FEEC100 peak collection and stands as the 42nd highest summit in the Paratge Natural d'Interès Nacional de l'Albera.
