Fayé, Mountain summit in Territoire de Belfort, France
Fayé is a mountain summit between Étueffont, Grosmagny and Petitmagny that reaches about 916 meters high. The slopes are covered with beech forests and several trails lead to the top.
The mountain sits within Étueffont, which was formed in 1973 from the merger of two smaller communes. This administrative change shaped the organization of the region as it exists today.
The peak attracts hikers who gather at the summit to enjoy views of the surrounding farmland and forests. Local residents use this mountain as a landmark for their region.
You can reach the summit by hiking one of several trails, with most routes taking a couple of hours. The paths wind through forest, so wear good shoes and bring water for your climb.
A small chapel called Notre-Dame du Grippot sits on the southwestern slope and offers a quiet place to rest. Most hikers pass by without knowing it exists, despite it being just off the main trail.
