The garden's creation dates back to 1865, evolving from a simple promenade into a landscaped garden during the second half of the nineteenth century.
The garden received official site classification in 1913, marking its contribution to the heritage landscape of the Brittany region.
Visitors can access the garden through multiple entrances, including Place de l'Hotel-de-ville and Rue Porte Saint-Leonard, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily.
The garden includes a specialized fern collection featuring fifty different species from Asia, Russia, and America along the Nançon River.
