Cellier d'expédition Mumm

The Cellier d'expédition Mumm is an Art Deco building in Reims that was originally constructed for storing and shipping champagne. It features distinctive red brick walls with a large circular forged metal door and decorative panels that show scenes from wine production.

The structure was designed in 1898 by architect Ernest Kalas and originally served as a storage facility for the Mumm champagne company. Following bombing damage to the city in 1917, it was adapted for use as a municipal administrative space.

The name reflects its origins as a champagne shipping facility, and visitors can see handcrafted scenes on the exterior that tell of wine-making traditions. The decorations show the labor involved in producing and distributing bottles.

The building sits close to the city hall and is easy to find when walking through central Reims. Visitors should know that the space hosts rotating exhibitions and events regularly, so checking the schedule ahead of time helps plan a worthwhile visit.
