Cascade du Géhard, Natural waterfall in Girmont-Val-d'Ajol, France.

The Géhard stream creates five successive waterfalls within a forested gorge where natural rock basins swirl with force. The waterfalls form at different levels, each dropping into pools carved by the water's movement over time.

The waterfall gained notice in the 19th century when Napoleon III visited the nearby thermal baths of Plombières-les-Bains. His repeated visits to the region brought attention to this natural site.

The path along the stream recalls visits by Napoleon III, who came to the nearby thermal baths during the 19th century. This historical connection remains visible in how locals and visitors talk about the place and the routes they take through it.

The site is reachable by a short 5-minute walk from the parking area, with two separate lots providing access to different sections. Wear sturdy shoes since the paths can be slippery, especially when wet.

The stream originates at Moulin Picard and flows through fields of daffodils each spring before plunging into the cascade. This seasonal transformation means the setting changes noticeably depending on when you visit.
