Tours Sisters, Modern skyscraper in La Défense, Courbevoie, France

Tours Sisters is a proposed skyscraper pair in Courbevoie, in the La Défense business district, designed by architect Christian de Portzamparc for developer Unibail-Rodamco. The scheme pairs a 229-metre office tower (219 metres above the slab) with a 131-metre hotel (121 metres above the slab), joined by a footbridge. It would replace the abandoned Tour Phare project and keep the existing passerelle Carpeaux. Construction had not started as of February 2024.

The Sisters towers were designed by Christian de Portzamparc for Unibail in 2015, replacing the cancelled Tour Phare project. The building permit was granted in March 2017, and demolition of the viaduct on the site of the 131-metre tower began in January 2019. Work stalled from 2019, and in February 2024 Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield said the start was not imminent, though the project was not abandoned.

The name comes from the two towers standing side by side, an office tower of 229 metres and a 131-metre hotel, linked by a footbridge. The project by Christian de Portzamparc keeps the Carpeaux footbridge between La Défense and Courbevoie, which had been disputed between Unibail and the Courbevoie town hall.

The project is unbuilt: demolition of the viaduct on the site of the 131 m tower began in January 2019, but clearing was unfinished by mid-2020 and the site has been stalled since 2019. In February 2024 Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield said the start would not come soon, though the project is not abandoned. The Carpeaux footbridge linking La Défense to Courbevoie is kept in the plans.

The project keeps the Carpeaux footbridge, which links La Défense to Courbevoie and was to be demolished for the earlier Phare Tower scheme; it had been the subject of a dispute between Unibail and the Courbevoie town hall. Demolition of the viaduct on the hotel tower's site began in January 2019, but by mid-2020 clearing was unfinished and the site has been stalled since 2019.
