Cabane Vauban

The Vauban hut sits on cliffs reaching 80 meters above sea level, offering direct views across the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel and the surrounding coastline.

Built in the early 1700s as part of a network of guardhouses, the structure allowed soldiers to transmit signals about approaching enemy vessels through fire or smoke signals.

The site forms part of the GR 223 hiking path, which connects multiple historical military observation points along the Normandy coast of France.

Visitors can access the site via a 5-kilometer circular hiking trail from Carolles, with an elevation gain of 139 meters throughout the journey.

The location serves as a prime spot for observing migratory birds from September to December, including species like the Dartford warbler and firecrest.
