Téléo, Urban aerial tramway in Toulouse, France
Téléo is an aerial tramway in southern Toulouse, France, connecting three stations over a three kilometer route. The cabins float high above the river and climb a wooded hill afterward, with five tall pylons carrying the cables.
The route opened in May 2022 and was the longest urban cable car in France at that time. The project replaced plans for a subway line and aimed to provide a fast link between university and hospital.
The three stations link thousands of students, hospital staff and researchers traveling between campus and medical complex each day. The system crosses old plane tree groves and garden plots as it glides above the wide river and wooded slopes.
The gondolas run from early morning until midnight, with cabins arriving at stations every minute and a half during rush hours. Passengers with limited mobility can board without steps, as the cabins stop at platform level.
The three cables allow rides even in strong winds and require fewer ground supports than regular cable car systems. Each cabin holds just over 30 people and features large panoramic windows on both sides.
