The Château de Monbadon stands on a promontory overlooking the Barbanne valley, featuring walls reaching 2.80 meters in thickness.
In 1330, King Edward III of England granted Indie de Monbadon permission to fortify this strategic position in Guyenne.
The structure represents one of the last remaining examples of medieval military architecture in the Gironde region, with its distinctive square tower.
The castle has remained in the same family ownership since 1602, when King Henry IV of France sold it to Henri de Puyperon.
The original tower includes a multi-level latrine system, designed not only for practical use but also for defending the surrounding walls.
