Église Saint-Jacques de Muret, Gothic church building in Muret, France.

Église Saint-Jacques de Muret is a church in the French town of Muret that was built through multiple construction phases spanning the 12th to 16th centuries. It features a distinctive octagonal bell tower from the 14th century, complemented by stone sculptures and decorated capitals distributed throughout its structure.

The church began its development in the 12th century and underwent successive phases of expansion and modification over several centuries. Its bell tower received official historical monument protection status in 1928, marking an important transition in how the structure was preserved.

The church served as a place of worship and spiritual gathering for the local community across several centuries, shaping the religious identity of the region. The artistic and architectural choices made within its walls reveal how faith was expressed and valued by those who built and used this space.

The church is located in central Muret on Rue Clément Ader, just a few hundred meters from the train station and easily reachable on foot. Admission is free and the building is open to visitors during standard hours.

Beneath the church lies a crypt housing ancient bells from Saint-Amans chapel and stone crosses from the cemetery. These underground chambers also preserve relics of Saint Germier, adding layers of history to the site beyond what is visible above ground.
