Hôtel de Polignac

The Hôtel de Polignac is a private mansion in Condom with neoclassical architecture distinguished by fluted Ionic columns and a triangular pediment on its main facade. The structure was built from carved limestone blocks and defines the townscape with its elegant, well-proportioned design.

Abbot Dorlan de Polignac commissioned the mansion between 1773 and 1777, deliberately competing with the Bishop of Condom for influence. This monumental residence emerged from a power struggle between religious leaders in the city during the 1700s.

The mansion showcases residential life from the late 1700s in the Armagnac region, reflecting the social standing of its original occupants. The preserved interior details and carefully designed exterior demonstrate the wealth and confidence of the local aristocracy during this era.
