Camp de Siège Médiéval

The Medieval Siege Camp is a recreation park featuring reconstructed siege machines and historical equipment spread around the fortress grounds. The site displays full-scale catapults, trebuchets, and ballistas built according to historical designs from the medieval period.

Military engineers in the 13th and 14th centuries developed advanced siege weapons to attack fortified locations. These innovations changed how warfare was conducted around castles and fortified settlements.

The guides dressed as medieval workers demonstrate how people conducted siege warfare and defensive strategies using the large machines on display. Their explanations show the role these devices played in medieval conflicts and how soldiers worked together.

The park is best explored in dry conditions and offers plenty of space to wander between the different machines and stations. Visitors should wear appropriate footwear and allow time to watch the demonstrations that occur regularly throughout the day.

Visitors can operate the medieval machines themselves and practice archery with real bows. Stone-cutting workshops are also offered, showing how craftspeople once worked on construction and fortification projects.
