Larressingle, Medieval fortified village in Gers, France

The stone fortifications of Larressingle extend for 270 meters, enclosing a compact village with a castle, church, and residential buildings from the 13th century.

The bishops of Condom established their residence in Larressingle during the 13th century, constructing a fortress that included a castle, church, and defensive walls.

The Saint Sigismund Church features an elevated entrance on the first floor, reflecting medieval defensive architecture common in religious buildings of that period.

The village maintains several gift shops and local produce stores that operate during summer months, offering regional products including the traditional Armagnac brandy.

Only seven permanent residents live within the fortified inner town, making it the smallest inhabited medieval fortress in France.
