The castle features 297 windows and 24 fireplaces, with neo-Gothic architecture designed by Ernest Sanson between 1884 and 1891.
Jacques Coeur, treasurer of King Charles VII, purchased the castle in 1448 before it was confiscated and given to the king's mistress.
The dining room displays ceramic works depicting Arcimboldo's Seasons, while the entrance hall contains a statue of Agnes Sorel.
Guided tours operate from April to September with four daily sessions at 10:30, 14:00, 15:30, and 17:00, requiring advance booking for groups.
The castle's dovecote houses white peacocks affected by leucism, a genetic mutation causing pigment deposit prevention without being albinism.
