Casino of Bagnères-de-Luchon, 19th-century casino and theatre in Bagnères-de-Luchon, France
The Casino of Bagnères-de-Luchon is a 19th-century building with classical features, featuring verandas decorated with stained glass windows by Louis-Victor Gesta and a large surrounding park. Inside are a concert hall seating 500 people and a smaller theatre room with 270 seats for various performances.
Architect Raymond Castex constructed the building between 1878 and 1880 as an entertainment venue for visitors to the nearby spa. The establishment later became a stage for performers from across Europe.
The Henri-Pac main hall serves as a gathering place where locals and visitors experience concerts, theatre, and community celebrations together. The Italian-style theatre next to it creates two distinct spaces for different types of performances.
The building is easily accessible on foot from the town center, with the surrounding park and interior spaces clearly marked. Visitors should check ahead to see what performances are scheduled, as events run throughout the season.
The surrounding park was designed by landscape architect Chevallier and offers green space next to the performance venue. The grounds host the Festival of Television Creations in Luchon, bringing television creativity onto the stage.
