Immeubles quai Richelieu, Historical building complex on Richelieu Quay, Bordeaux, France

Immeubles quai Richelieu is a multi-story residential building complex along the riverfront with stone facades and symmetrical window arrangements. The structures form a continuous architectural line facing the Garonne River and display design characteristics typical of French construction from the 1700s.

These buildings were constructed in the 1700s as part of Bordeaux's urban expansion during a period of maritime prosperity. They received official heritage protection status in 1951, recognizing their importance to the city's architectural record.

These buildings represent the evolution of French urban residential architecture and reflect the economic success of Bordeaux's maritime trade during their construction.

The complex sits directly along Quai Richelieu near Rue de la Cour-des-Aides and is easily viewable from the street. The buildings remain under intermittent restoration work, so checking current conditions before visiting is advisable.

A section of the complex collapsed in 2022, prompting the evacuation of residents living within. This incident led to extensive structural reinforcement work that strengthened the buildings against further damage.
