Château de Coët-Candec, Medieval castle in Locmaria-Grand-Champ, France
The castle features medieval architecture with a central tower, ancient stone walls, and defensive structures representing regional construction methods from the 14th century.
The Chohan family constructed the castle around 1350 on earlier fortification foundations, marking the beginning of centuries of noble residence.
Two decorated 16th-century chimneys from the castle were transferred to the Château des Rohan at Pontivy in 1961, preserving these artistic elements.
A group of 250 members supports the ongoing restoration efforts through regular donations and participation in maintenance activities at the castle grounds.
The castle remained empty from 1910 until World War II, when it provided temporary shelter for nuns seeking refuge during the conflict.
