Château de Chevregny, Listed historical château in Chevregny, France
The Château de Chevregny is an estate house in Picardy featuring yellow-pink brick walls and two square towers flanking a central pavilion across four stories. The design reflects English manor style with balanced proportions and vertical lines created by the corner towers.
The original building from 1717 was destroyed during the First World War by German bombardment in 1917. The estate was then reconstructed at a higher location in English manor style.
The property belonged to Henri Cherrier, a founding member of the Society of Book Friends who maintained an active role in French cultural circles.
The manor is located in Chevregny in the Aisne department of Hauts-de-France. The building is visible from local roads and generally accessible for exterior viewing.
The top floor contains fifteen former servants' quarters, revealing the social hierarchy that existed within wealthy French households. These rooms show how domestic staff were organized and housed separately from family spaces.
