Puy de Montaudoux

Puy de Montaudoux is a volcanic summit in Ceyrat with trails that wind through gardens, orchards, and forested sections at varying elevations. The pathways connect different parts of the hill and offer access to the higher areas where views open up.

Archaeological excavations in 2005 revealed traces of Roman occupation and settlement from the late antique period at the site. These findings indicate that the location held importance for inhabitants during that era.

The hill reflects the volcanic origins of the Auvergne region and demonstrates how this geology has shaped both the landscape and local ways of living. Visitors walking the trails can observe how the volcanic rock and soil influence what grows and how people have adapted to this terrain.

Although vegetation blocks views from the main summit, two separate rock outcrops provide clear sightlines to the surrounding districts. These hidden vantage points reward visitors who take time to locate them.
