Gare de Royat - Chamalières, Historical railway station in Chamalières, France.

Gare de Royat-Chamalières is a railway station featuring a squared central block with two lateral wings and a facade decorated with denticulated cornices. A cast iron canopy supported by fluted columns extends across the entire front and is adorned with decorative lion head details.

Construction of the station took place between 1880 and 1890 under engineer Jules Martin's supervision to serve the thermal resort of Royat. This timeline reflects the growing popularity of the area as a health destination during that era.

The entrance hall preserves its original wooden wall panels, ceiling with decorative cornices, and nineteenth-century granito tiles that define the space. These details mark the station as an important arrival point for visitors to the region.

The station offers two platforms, vehicle parking, and ticket machines for regional TER Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes trains. These facilities make it straightforward to access trains and navigate the station.

The cast iron canopy supports feature fluted columns decorated with lion heads, an artistic touch rarely expected on a railway station building. These sculptural lion details often escape notice from travelers passing through the station.
