Capu Purcile

Capu Purcile is a mountain summit in Corsica, France, rising to about 339 meters above the western Mediterranean coastline. The peak offers views across the Scandola Nature Reserve and the Gulf of Porto.

A defensive tower built around 1608 stands nearby and was part of the network protecting the coast during Genoese control. This fortification reveals the maritime history of the Corsican shoreline.

Shepherds historically used simple mountain shelters to tend their flocks in this region. These structures show how people adapted to life on the high slopes of Corsica.

The hike takes around 4 hours round trip and starts about 6 kilometers west of Piana village. The trail passes through granite formations, so sturdy footwear and plenty of water are essential.

The granite formations surrounding the peak create natural viewpoints with unusual perspectives across the rugged coastal landscape. These rock formations took millions of years to develop through natural geological processes.
