Mont Senino

Mont Senino is a mountain summit located between the Gulf of Porto and the Gulf of Girolata, rising to 618 meters above sea level. From its peak, views extend across both Mediterranean bays and the rocky terrain that surrounds them.

The mountain long served as a natural navigation landmark for sailors traveling between the ports of Porto and Girolata along the Corsican coast. Its prominent position made it a reliable reference point for maritime activity in this region.

The mountain serves as a reference point within the Scandola Nature Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage site that protects Corsica's natural environment. Visitors experience this place as part of a larger protected area designed to preserve rare habitats.

The hike to the summit takes about 2 to 2.5 hours along a 4.4-kilometer trail that includes steep sections and basic scrambling passages. Some familiarity with mountain terrain helps with navigation and route-finding along the way.

The summit creates a natural boundary between two distinct Mediterranean ecosystems, with different plant species thriving on its northern and southern slopes. This ecological variety results from differing exposure and moisture conditions on each side of the mountain.
