Cascade de Courmes

The Cascade de Courmes is a waterfall located in the Loup gorge in the Alpes-Maritimes, surrounded by tall limestone cliffs. The water drops in stages, creating a natural mist that is especially visible in sunny conditions.

The waterfall was formed by erosion from the Loup River, which carved deep gorges through limestone over millions of years. This geological process created the striking landscape visible to visitors today.

Local residents maintain traditions of celebrating the annual patron saint feast near the waterfall location every August 30th.

The waterfall can be reached from Road D6, where several parking spaces are available along the roadside. The area is fairly easy to access, though good footwear is recommended, especially when moisture is present.

A natural pool sits at the base where experienced climbers attempt challenging rappel descents. This adventure opportunity draws thrill-seekers looking for an intense experience in this natural setting.
