Maison Gaudet

Maison Gaudet is a residential home in Tourrettes-sur-Loup with continuously curved walls and spherical rooms throughout. The structure was built entirely from concrete, with all surfaces flowing seamlessly together and no straight lines interrupting the design.

French architect Antti Lovag created the house in the 1970s as a statement against conventional building methods of the time. The project pioneered a new design philosophy that used natural forms as the foundation for architecture.

The house shows a way of building based on organic forms that differs from angular buildings. Visitors can see here how the curved rooms shape daily life and enable a different way of living.

The house is located in a quiet village in the Provence hills and is easy to reach. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes, as the curved rooms have many levels and transitions.

Every door and window had to be individually fitted to match the organically curved openings. This craftsmanship made the house a difficult experiment to reproduce, relying entirely on custom fabrication.
