Église de l'Immaculée-Conception de Saint-Omer

The church opened in 1859, representing the expansion of Gothic Revival style in French ecclesiastical architecture during the mid-19th century. It underwent major restoration work between 2014 and 2018 to return it to its original condition.

The interior contains handcrafted confessionals and choir stalls that reflect the religious life of the community. These artistic details showcase the craftsmanship typical of 19th-century religious spaces in northern France.

Access is currently limited as the building is closed to visitors following a fire in September 2024. It is advisable to contact local information centers before planning a visit to learn about any reopening plans.

The building tilts noticeably to one side due to ground movements in the marshy soil beneath it, creating an unexpected architectural feature. This natural settling is clearly visible and makes the structure a geologically interesting case within the city's development.
