Shepherds used this peak as a landmark when guiding flocks through mountain passes connecting Valmorel to neighboring valleys. This role shaped how people moved through and understood the alpine landscape over many centuries.
A traditional cross stands at the peak, maintained by local mountaineers as a gathering point for alpine communities. It represents the connection that people from surrounding villages have long felt toward this mountain.
A circular hiking route of around 15 kilometers reaches the summit with approximately 1,000 meters (3,281 feet) of elevation gain, taking 7 to 8 hours from Valmorel station. Sturdy hiking boots and plenty of water are essential, as the path is demanding and offers little protection from the sun.
The peak serves as a popular launch site for paragliders who ride the thermal currents rising from the valley below. On good flying days, you might see multiple pilots circling gracefully in the air above the slopes.
