Chapelle Saint-Vigor de Mieux, Medieval chapel in Saint-Martin-de-Mieux, France.
Chapelle Saint-Vigor de Mieux is a chapel with stone walls and traditional Norman architecture located in Saint-Martin-de-Mieux. The building stands among green fields in the Normandy countryside near Falaise.
The chapel dates from the late 13th century and underwent modifications in the 15th century under Guillaume de Vanembras. These changes shaped the building's character that survives to the present day.
The chapel holds funeral plates of the Vanembras family whose members were buried in the nave until 1737. These graves tell the story of generations who chose this place as their final resting place.
The chapel is accessible to visitors from July through Heritage Days and offers access to a quiet location without crowds. A comfortable visit allows you to explore the interior and surroundings at your own pace.
Since 1992 the building features glass tiles in rainbow colors added by Japanese artist Kyoji Takubo. Wall decorations with apple tree motifs blend Norman tradition with modern artistic vision.
