Château de Montépin

Château de Montépin is a castle featuring circular and square towers that rise above steep roofs within a spacious park setting. The grounds also include a rotunda and a chapel on the property.

In 1273, Barthélémy Cholet transferred two farms in the hamlet of Montépin to the Knights Templar. The structure underwent significant transformation in 1880 when it was converted into a residential castle.

The castle displays Renaissance construction methods typical of the Ain region. The architecture reflects local building traditions that shaped how similar estates were designed during this period.

This castle is private property and not open to the public for visits. You can view the exterior and surrounding grounds from nearby roads as you travel through the area.

Monsieur de Ballore undertook a major redesign in 1880 that transformed the former military stronghold into an elegant residential castle. This renovation gave the building its distinctive appearance with refined architectural features.
