Castle of Quinsonnas, Medieval castle in Sérézin-de-la-Tour, France.

The castle of Quinsonnas is a medieval fortress perched on a hill with views across the Bourbre valley, displaying two round towers on its north face and residential wings arranged in a U-shape. The structure has been adapted for guest accommodations while maintaining its original form and layout.

The fortress emerged during medieval times and passed to the Viguier family in 1224, marking a pivotal moment in its feudal history. This transfer of ownership initiated a long period of family stewardship that shaped its subsequent development.

The lime trees planted in the main courtyard reflect gardening traditions from the early 1600s. These mature trees shape the feeling of the interior space and connect visitors to centuries of life here.

A paved road climbs from the village of Sérézin-de-la-Tour to reach the site, which now operates as a guest accommodation. Advance contact is advisable since this remains a private property with limited public access.

A severe thunderstorm in August 2022 left a dramatic mark on the property when lightning struck the roof structure. This incident reveals how even ancient buildings remain vulnerable to nature's power.
