Dating from the 9th or 10th century, the hermitage appears in documents from 1150 and remained active until the 14th century as part of Revel Castle.
The chapel contains remnants of wall paintings and features a triumphal arch separating the choir from the nave, reflecting medieval religious architectural principles.
Access to the hermitage requires following a narrow path carved into the rock face, located 2 kilometers southeast of La Roque-Sainte-Marguerite.
The site includes an ancient cistern carved into the rock and multiple terraces that suggest the presence of a former hermit cemetery.
