Pont des Arts et Métiers, Tram bridge in Angers, France
The Pont des Arts et Métiers extends 130 meters across the Maine River, featuring a 15-meter-wide deck that accommodates both tram lines and pedestrian paths.
The bridge, inaugurated in June 2019, replaced the former Pont des Treilles from the 17th century, marking a new phase in the city's transportation development.
The structure, designed by Lavigne Chéron Architectes, represents modern French engineering while connecting different neighborhoods of Angers through public transportation.
The bridge serves as a vital link for Angers' tram lines B and C, which began operations in July 2023, enhancing public transportation across the city.
The structure underwent extensive testing procedures before its official opening, demonstrating its capacity to support dual tram lines while maintaining pedestrian access.
