Musée des Mille et Une Racines

The museum exhibits 1,000 sculptures made from natural wood pieces, roots, and trunks collected from local forests, displayed across 480 square meters of space.

Michel Maurice, an artist born in 1937, spent 57 years exploring forests to create sculptures from roots before establishing this museum in a former textile factory.

The exhibition features wood sculptures depicting characters and animals, accompanied by an original soundtrack of forest sounds created by audio-naturalist Marc Namblard.

The museum opens daily from 10:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 18:00, except Saturdays, with adult tickets priced at 6 euros and group rates at 3 euros.

Each displayed piece reveals the natural forms of dead wood, with some incorporating found objects embedded within the wooden structures to illustrate fairy tales.
