Lac de Flourens, Lake in Flourens, France
The Lac de Flourens is a lake in Flourens, a village near Toulouse in the Haute-Garonne. It covers about 7 hectares and is fed by the Garbose and Petite Coupette streams, with a dam that holds back the water.
The lake was created in 1966 as a reservoir for irrigation, but it was never used for that purpose. It later became a spot for fishing and leisure activities.
Local residents often come here for a stroll or a picnic, especially on weekends. The botanical trail, created in 2008, has signs in braille and raised reliefs, allowing everyone to discover the trees by touch.
You can walk around the lake on a loop trail that takes about an hour at an easy pace. The path is mostly flat and suitable for strollers, and there are benches along the way to rest.
In 2004, police divers searched the lake as part of the Patrice Alègre investigation. The lake is also home to Florida turtles, which were introduced and now live alongside native species.
