Sémaphore de la Pointe du Raz

The semaphore stands 65 meters above sea level on a granite promontory, offering views across the Atlantic Ocean and the Raz de Sein strait.

Built in 1838 as a lighthouse, the structure transformed into a semaphore station in 1887 when the La Vieille lighthouse took over maritime guidance duties.

The facility operates as one of France's 36 first-category semaphores, monitoring maritime traffic and coordinating rescue operations in the Atlantic approaches.
