Liakhvi Strict Nature Reserve

Liakhvi Strict Nature Reserve is a protected area spread across the southern slope of the Greater Caucasus, with mountain terrain, mixed woodlands, and river gorges. The landscape shifts between dense forests of oak, beech, and hornbeam trees, and open valleys carved by flowing water.

The area shows evidence of human settlement from prehistoric times and later became the site of early Christian buildings and fortifications. These layers reveal how the region was inhabited and shaped by different communities across thousands of years.
