Pindus National Park, National park in northwestern Greece.
The protected area spans 2000 square kilometers across the Regional Units of Ioannina and Grevena, encompassing mountain ranges including Smolika, Tymfi, and Mitsikeli.
The region has maintained continuous human presence since the Stone Age, with archaeological discoveries of primitive tools and weapons in the Voidomatis river caves.
The park territory contains 68 traditional settlements featuring stone bridges, churches, and monasteries that reflect the architectural methods of past centuries.
Four main access points connect to the park from north, south, east, and west, with the Egnatia Highway providing direct access to southeastern and eastern boundaries.
The park houses over 2000 plant species and 60 mammal species, including specialized flora that grows on heavy metal-rich soils of ophiolite rock mountains.
