Helsinki Velodrome, Outdoor velodrome in Itä-Pasila, Finland
The Helsinki Velodrome features a 400-meter cycling track with steep banking angles of 37.5 degrees in the bends and 16 degrees on the straight sections.
The velodrome construction started in 1938 for the 1940 Summer Olympics, which were canceled, and later served during the 1952 Summer Olympics for track cycling events.
The facility represents Finland's post-war architectural development, designed by Hilding Ekelund in the functionalist style and maintains protected status under town planning regulations.
Located at Mäkelänkatu 70, the velodrome currently hosts American football teams, field hockey matches, and serves as the starting point for the Tour de Helsinki cycling event.
The central area transformed from natural grass to artificial turf during renovations from 1997 to 2000, adapting the space for multiple sports activities.
