Bothnian Bay National Park

The national park spans 157 square kilometers across the Gulf of Bothnia, with only 2.5 square kilometers consisting of permanent land surface.

The park was established in 1991 to safeguard the islands formed through post-glacial rebound, where the land rises 9 millimeters annually.

Traditional fishing bases remain active throughout the park's islands, with local communities maintaining historic fishing practices and preservation methods.

The park requires boat access, with Selkä-Sarvi Island offering the sole protected harbor, rental cabins, and public sauna facilities.

The Möyly seal protection area hosts both grey and ringed seals, while the Arctic tern and Siberian primrose serve as regional emblem species.
