Torne River Railway Bridge, Railway bridge between Tornio, Finland and Haparanda, Sweden.
The Torne River Railway Bridge extends 410 meters across the river with a truss structure to connect the Finnish and Swedish rail networks.
The bridge construction in 1919 marked the first direct connection between Tornio and Haparanda until a road bridge was built in 1939.
The bridge displays national identities through its color scheme, painted white on the Finnish side and blue on the Swedish portion.
The structure incorporates dual gauge tracks to accommodate both Finnish 1524mm and Swedish 1435mm rail specifications for cross-border transportation.
Engineers designed a four-rail gauntlet track system to manage the different national railway gauges without requiring travelers to switch trains.
