Malminkartanonhuippu, Artificial hill and summit in Kaarela district, Helsinki, Finland
Malminkartanonhuippu is an artificial hill in the Kaarela district that rises to 91 meters and dominates the surrounding landscape. A long staircase of more than 400 steps connects the base to the summit, offering views across Helsinki.
The hill developed between 1976 and 1996 as a landfill receiving construction waste including sand, bricks, and concrete. It was transformed from a disposal site into a public recreational space.
The hill features a large arrow-shaped design stretching several hundred meters on one side, adding an artistic element to the landscape.
The slopes serve as sledding areas in winter, while summer brings mountain biking trails and walking paths. Sturdy shoes are recommended due to the steep stairs and potential wet conditions.
A large arrow-shaped pattern is visible on one side of the hill when viewed from above, creating an unexpected artistic landmark. This design element makes the site memorable and distinctive in the urban landscape.
