Jokioinen Museum Railway, Heritage railway in Tavastia Proper, Finland
Jokioinen Museum Railway is a narrow-gauge railway with 750 mm track width, running just over 14 kilometers between Humppila and Jokioinen with several stations along the route. Historic locomotives and cars operate on this line to carry visitors on rides through the countryside.
The railway was founded in 1978 after commercial operations on the line ended. This project preserved the historic track and equipment, turning them into a destination for enthusiasts and travelers.
The railway keeps locomotives from different periods, showing how these tracks once served daily transport for people and goods through the region. The machines and cars tell the story of a time when such railways were essential to local life and trade.
Visitors can ride steam trains on summer weekends or rent hand-powered rail cars to explore the line at their own pace. Plan your visit during the operating season when regular services run.
This is Finland's last remaining commercially operated narrow-gauge railway, making it exceptionally rare in the country. The 1909 locomotive Lovisa & Wesijärvi Railway number 6 is among the oldest working steam engines still running in Scandinavia.
