Salpa Line Museum

The Salpa Line Museum preserves the remains of Finland's World War II defensive line, with intact trenches, bunkers, and gun positions spread across outdoor grounds. The layout includes underground shelters that retain their original configuration and structure.

The Salpa Line was built between 1940 and 1944 as a defensive barrier along Finland's eastern border during the war. The museum preserves one section of this wartime fortification system.

The site reveals how soldiers organized their daily routines within these fortified positions. Walking through the bunkers gives a sense of what military life felt like in these cramped spaces.

The site is outdoors with uneven ground and muddy areas, so sturdy footwear and patience are needed for exploration. Plan ample time to walk through the shelters and examine the structures closely.

Some bunkers still contain original wartime equipment and furnishings inside their chambers. These remaining objects offer a direct connection to daily military life in these confined spaces.
