Elanto Headquarters

Elanto Headquarters is an office building in Helsinki's Vilhonvuori area, located at the intersection of Hämeentie and Kaikukatu, featuring a prominent corner tower topped with an Art Deco clock. Red brick facades are punctuated by granite columns framing the entrance.

The building opened in 1927 as the headquarters of the Elanto Consumers' Co-operative, serving the organization for many decades. When the cooperative merged with HOK in 2004, the structure shifted to new purposes.

The building reflects Nordic Classicism with influences from Stockholm City Hall, featuring marble details and gold foil decorations throughout its interior spaces. These ornamental elements shape how visitors experience the rooms today.

The building serves as modern office and business premises today following significant renovations, though visitor access may be limited to certain areas. The exterior and any publicly accessible interior spaces are worth observing to appreciate the architectural details.

The structure houses a paternoster elevator, a rare lift system that moves continuously without doors. This perpetually operating elevator counts among the few surviving examples of this distinctive vertical transportation method.
