Imotski

Imotski is a town in Split-Dalmatia County, sitting on limestone terrain in the hilly regions north of Split. The center holds several local restaurants serving regional food, and the buildings reflect the character of the surrounding landscape.

The settlement began in Roman times, with remnants of fortifications still standing on the hilltop overlooking the surrounding region. These early structures show how important the location was for controlling the lands during ancient times.

Regular bus connections link the town with Split and Zagreb, making it easy to visit by public transport. The best time to explore is spring or fall, when temperatures feel comfortable and the streets are not crowded.

The Blue Lake nearby changes its water level throughout the year, sometimes draining completely to reveal a natural amphitheater formation. This rare occurrence creates an unexpected landscape that looks completely different depending on the season.
