Prandau-Normann Castle

Prandau-Normann Castle is a Gothic fortification in Valpovo with medieval defensive structures. The building features a cylindrical turret, expansive lawns, a large courtyard, and is surrounded by deep protective moats.

The fortress was built in the 15th century to defend the region. During the 18th century, it underwent major reconstruction and became the residence of the Prandau-Normann family.

The castle now houses the Museum Valpovstina, displaying collections that show the history and traditions of the region. These exhibits provide insight into how local life developed over many centuries.

The castle is located at Ulica Dvorac Norman-Prandau 1 and welcomes visitors. Guided tours lasting around 30 minutes allow guests to explore the main architectural features and interior spaces.

Inside the castle stands a well-preserved stone dragon statue, a rare detail that blends the castle's defensive purpose with its later use as a comfortable residence. This sculpture reflects the craftsmanship and imagination of those who built and modified the structure.
