Opeka Arboretum, Park architecture monument in Marčan, Croatia
The arboretum extends across 65 hectares of land surrounding a manor house, containing numerous plant species from different parts of the world.
Count Marko Bombelles established this botanical collection in 1860, introducing seeds and plants gathered during his international expeditions until 1945.
The grounds serve as an educational facility managed by an Agricultural and Veterinary school, offering hands-on experience in horticulture and plant sciences.
Located 20 kilometers west of Varaždin, the arboretum presents specimens that have grown for over 150 years in specific microclimatic conditions.
This protected area stands as the sole continental arboretum among three existing ones in Croatia, alongside Trsteno and Lisičine.
