Završje, Grožnjan

The town features double fortification walls enclosing narrow streets and traditional stone buildings at an elevation of 240 meters above sea level.

The Contarini family acquired Završje in 1530 through a Venetian auction and maintained control of the settlement for three centuries.

The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Holy Rosary contains a bell tower from the 16th century and once displayed a chalice now in the Louvre.

Visitors can access the settlement through a preserved gate displaying the Contarini family coat of arms and explore the 11th-century medieval castle.

The introduction of the Paranzana railway in 1902 brought prosperity to Završje, connecting it to Trieste until operations ceased in 1935.
